Residential Park

Kigali, RW

If asked for the ideal living situation in Africa, you will most likely hear "private and protected residential quarters". Constructing such a quarter from scratch offered the opportunity to create the "perfect" environment for just that. Based on the traditional settlement structure of Rwandan circular villages, the design produces an arrangement that turns the public park into an extension of one's own private garden.

Although the individual interiors are small in size, the house emulate a sense of openness and generosity. The community center in the central part of the site serves as a meeting point for special events within the quarter and strengthens the neighborhoods identity.
