I would like to deeply express my sincere thanks to Professor Dieterle for his decisive contribution to the completion of our new headquarters in Singapore. Everyone concerned is more than satisfied: the staff, the directors of our company, our customers and the people of Singapore. We see it as a huge success, that the building, which was developed by him in such a short time, is perceived as a significant new landmark in the city.
Thomas Frischmuth, Managing Director SAE Singapore

In my experience, the potential and influence of spatial order in small and big things is today totally underestimated in regard to personal prosperity and the economical existence of organisations. In conjunction with the unfiltered flood of information, we have, at present, lost our natural navigation in these matters.

The required new way of navigation, needs less a specialization, but more the overlap ping synthesis of profound factual knowledge, all-round thinking in processes and structures, a deep understanding of anthropological requirements - combined with the power of creativity, inspiration, as well as the ability to listen and guide.

I get my professional fulfilment when I, in a mutual process with my clients “online” so to speak, discover new and unexpected possibilities for them which reach far beyond spatial limitations. This applies to “decision makers” as well as to people looking for the appropriate spatial surroundings for their lives.
Roland Dieterle

THE ART OF SIGNIFICANT SIMPLICITY
We are all familiar with those faceless, windowless and scaleless boxes in industrial areas around our towns. Is this a reality for which we have no alternative or for which we have an excuse?

Our experience proves that there is always an alternative. Regardless of where, with which resources, benchmarks or functional constraints wherever we have been in the world - with creativity, diligence and perseverance, we have been able to develop significant, identifiable, agreeable and at the same time highly functional shells, for products the size of a fingernail to those with the dimensions of a large house.

Benchmarks in global competition are similarly less of a hindrance as is the pressure of people s expectations regarding ever-decreasing realization time. We have increasingly learned to see conception and planning not as an image for, but rather as a catalyst for, defining the business process and especially the production process.

Sustainability in this context not only refers to environment and energy in a technical sense, but also raises the question: What contribution can a building make today, and in the future, and how robust is it in daily use?

ROOMS OF KNOWLEDGE
A person at his workplace hardly notices if “his” building has been leased or purchased or which concepts of real estate, strategy and space planning have individually come into play.

A person accepts his “space” simply as a place, in which he feels more or less happy and in which he can, more or less, work efficiently. Anthropological studies show that the availability of the resource “knowledge” is subtly connected to the quality of a room.

Spatial efficiency, grid, building depth, development of economy, and universal standards are the architects required tools of craftsmanship whose many facets we have analysed and practiced over many years, in countless studies and in numerous realised projects.

The attentiveness to comfort in both, the physical and emotional sense, in combination with impressive, sustainable and inviting buildings stands for us at the centre of an all embracing understanding of quality, which is, in our experience, not really in contradiction with economical restraints.

BLUEPRINTS FOR THE FUTURE
As we understand it, the master plan is the irrevocable key instrument for the successful development and realization of projects, in consistent agreement with business objectives.

This approach is equally valid for a single, small scale project, as it is for mastering those with an urban scale - we have accumulated an extensive knowledge and experience of both.

The master plan conveys a clear and distinct picture:
- The vision of a proposal in its entirety
- The real estate concept and its realization phases
- The function of a total area and its individual zones

Equally, the master plan is also, according to our understanding of it, a counterpart to the business plan, providing basic information:
- For marketing campaigns.
- For defining tasks and which steps to be taken
- For communicating with possible clients and interested parties
- For identifying and solving possible risks.

CONCEPT INSTEAD OF RECIPE
Working closely together with product and graphic designers, with advertising and communication experts, we have had, and used, the opportunity to develop and apply worldwide, very effective “Corporate Design” tools for a large corporation.

We have learned to combine the communicated identity of a building and its interior (, we created the idea of “Corporate Architecture”,) with local individuality, within the limits of appropriate funds, locally available resources, and a playful variety, which satisfies the atmospheric demands of the individual case.

The band that ties everything together is the interdisciplinary process, a clearly understood and commonly agreed attitude, which defines the boundaries of possibilities without ostensible recipes.

Corporate design is, in this sense, a universal method to provide quick orientation in all types of projects in both business and private sectors, and which explains singular decisions within the context of superior aims, and supports an effortless and beneficial “visual culture”.

ROOMS AS INDICATOR AND RESOURCE OF WELL-BEING
In this sense we should understand the famous quote of Churchill: “First we shape our buildings, thereafter they shape us.” The philosopher Hellmut Wolff expressed it differently: “Wherever you create boundaries, you create rooms; and in these rooms you are caught again.”

We understand planning and building as a catalyst to understanding diverse living situations, to consider its long-term possibilities, with the aim to improvement. This can primarily mean, in one case, to find the individual right place, in another, to create a fantastic house, or, to propose a solution to living and working under one roof, to develop a concept to improve ones well-being or the choosing of beautiful furniture.

Consultation in this sense includes helping with the financial viability of a project and the creation of lasting values. The unpretentious invention of appropriate and individual solutions is in some cases, for us personally, much more inspiring than exchangeable, established design. In this sense, architecture as a service is a chance to perceptibly enrich life for everyone and to make it an amazing personal event.
